Why Molina

Intriguing projects -- we focus less on bleeding edge development and more on making things easier, faster and more efficient for users. A couple of examples of recent projects:
  • We implemented a direct data entry system that replaced paper claims, providing a "virtual" online form that providers can fill out to submit for processing.
  • We're currently developing adjustment and void capability tied to the backend database; it will enable providers to view and void or adjust any allowable field.
Professional development -- while our preference is that you bring experience with a broad array of technologies related to the Visual Basic platform, you certainly will learn any that you don't already know. In addition, you'll expand your skills with interfaces and gain exposure to the technologies on the other end of those interfaces. You also will build on your supervisory / leadership skills. Work hard and demonstrate your talent and, depending upon your interests and abilities, this role could be a springboard for other opportunities -- particularly if you are open to relocation.

Robust industry -- as a whole the healthcare industry has been thriving, even during the recession. As healthcare reform continues to be implemented, there will be significant change. The Medicaid market will be growing even faster than others, offering a degree of stability in an otherwise uncertain market.

Help those who need it most -- Molina Healthcare provides services for the under-served and you'll find a strong sense of mission here; our people are proud to be able to make a difference in the quality of life for this vulnerable segment of our communities.

High performance company -- since our founding in 1980 we have grown from a single health clinic to a multi-state industry leader. We continue to post strong numbers. Our 2011 premium revenues were $4.6 billion, up 15% over 2010, while annual cash flow from operations was 40% higher than in 2010, at $225.4 million. Guidance for 2012 is set at $5.8 billion in premium revenue.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and bonus incentive program, we offer comprehensive benefits that include all you would expect -- insurance, PTO, vacation -- plus some pleasant surprises. For example, we provide two paid days off annually for employees to perform volunteer work at the charity of their choice, offer tuition reimbursement for those continuing their education, and more.

Keys to Success

To excel in this role you will bring a collaborative approach, but there also may be situations in which you will need to be assertive and able to respond to critiques of your ideas. You'll need to explain your point of view and push back as appropriate.

If you are all about getting your hands on the latest technologies and developing cutting-edge applications, this may not be the position for you. However, if you derive satisfaction from creating efficiencies that help users to be more effective in achieving goals, you may be a great fit for our team. The ideal candidate will be able to be productive and make contributions from day one, and also to achieve goals independently.

The customer for this contract has representatives on site with us and they review and sign off on every project; you'll use your interpersonal skills and customer focus as you interact directly with the customer on a fairly regular basis. Additionally, you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Priorities change quickly here, and your ability to multi-task, stay organized and prioritize your own work will be vital in this role.
