Why Molina

Professional development / collaborative environment -- in this role you’ll have plenty of opportunity to learn.  For starters, you’ll become a Health PAS expert and learn about Medicaid and the healthcare industry.  Your supervisor has experience in the role, so can offer deep insight and expertise to guide you.  And just as we’ll train you, you’ll have the opportunity to share your insights with us and have your voice be heard.  For example, if you discover new technology that could be a benefit to Molina, let us know and we’ll check it out.  Our success, in large part, is because of our team approach.

Career development-- you’ll work with internal and external customers across different contracts and states.  This is a role with local, national and corporate exposure, where your successes will be noticed.  Prove yourself a star and in time you could pursue an Application Development Engineer III position or another IT role.  We are dedicated to helping our employees grow their talents, abilities and careers.

Flexibility -- while it is important that you be in the office during the week, you can enjoy the flexibility of working at home a day or two per week, once you're fully acclimated to your role.

Right solutions, right time -- managed care is an optimal solution to the challenges that healthcare reform is intended to address, positioning Molina for ongoing success. The whole industry is shifting and the Medicaid market will be growing even faster than others . . . with Molina and MMS leading the way.  Additionally, we're investing in what healthcare will look like after reform – always staying ahead of the game.

Help those who need it most -- Molina Healthcare provides services for the under-served and you'll find a strong sense of mission here; our people are proud to be able to make a difference in the quality of life for this vulnerable segment of our communities.

High-performance company -- since our founding in 1980 we have grown from a single health clinic to a multi-state industry segment leader. We continue to post strong numbers. Our 2011 premium revenues were $4.6 billion, up 15% over 2010, while annual cash flow from operations was 40% higher than in 2010, at $225.4 million. Guidance for 2012 is set at $5.8 billion in premium revenue.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and bonus incentive program, we offer comprehensive benefits that include all you would expect -- such as insurance and PTO -- plus some pleasant surprises. For example, we provide two paid days off annually for employees to perform volunteer work at the charity of their choice, tuition reimbursement for those continuing their education, and more.

Keys to Success

Upon joining Molina, you’ll have a three-day training period in Long Beach, CA to learn about the company and our policies.  Upon your return, you’ll be paired with another developer focusing on financial programs and begin to learn our systems, the SSIS packages and required documentation for the different states.  We understand that there will be a learning curve and it could take three to six months before you’re fully up to speed, so we’ll start you off with small tasks and build from there.

To be successful in the role, you’ll need to be a dedicated learner and interested not just in the code, but in the business logic behind the code.  This is not a role where you will just complete given tasks, but one in which you’ll need to look at the code and fully understand why it’s written as it is.  You should have strong curiosity and the desire to dig deeply enough to become an expert.  You’ll work with a strong group of SMEs, so if you know the questions to ask and take time to understand the answers, you gain the knowledge necessary to advise others.
