The Requirements

Our preference is that you already have experience leading teams, but this also could be an opportunity for a strong SQL report developer to step up to a lead role. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; a bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is preferred.
  • Very strong knowledge of SQL and TSQL and extensive experience with SQL Server, preferably 2008 or later.

  • Strong knowledge of data warehouse and SQL Server Analysis Services. 
  • Strong experience with SSIS package development.
  • Experience in health care is strongly preferred; strong candidates will have experience with insurance / claims processing, and top candidates will have a background in Medicaid.
  • A solid conceptual understanding of RDBMS.
  • Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience with developing and implementing reports and software, using structured software life-cycle methodologies.
  • Knowledge of source control, preferably in Team Foundation Server.
  • Experience with QNXT is a plus.
  • Knowledge of a MITA area and CMS requirements is preferred.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Analytics, you will join a team that currently includes eight Report Developers. We've created this lead role in anticipation of strong growth. The Lead role involves hands-on contributions as well as developing and documenting standards and best practices, identifying problems in new and existing solutions and driving resolution, mentoring less experienced Developers, providing updates to stakeholders, and more. Quick question for you - click here

You'll invest about 80% of your time in project work, but there also will be support activities. Projects range in size and scope, but most will be significant, such as migrating from one platform to another, developing and implementing changes that impact hundreds of reports, collaborating with other development teams on software that includes multiple reports, etc. At any given time you can expect to be leading and contributing to multiple projects, and projects last from a few weeks to several months.

Your key objectives and activities will include:
  • Acting as lead software engineer for either steady state or DDI implementation.
  • Maintaining an internal work plan as well as project work plan.
  • Recommend, schedule and perform software improvement.
  • Providing project plan updates and status reports.
  • Interfacing with customers, gathering requirements, creating specifications, and working with other teams to implement.
  • Providing analysis and estimates on steady state requests and future implementations.
  • Holding staff meetings, providing guidance and mentoring to the team and working alongside site operations staff.
More specifically, you will:
  • Lead teams of developers in developing and implementing reports to satisfy state reporting requirements, including tracking reporting requirements and change request (CR) tickets. You'll mentor team members and junior developers when needed, manage and task contractors working on your teams, and mentor interns on a daily basis.
  • Act as liaison between state agencies and the project management office to ensure all state requirements for reporting are met.
  • Develop and implement reports with repeatable processes to satisfy federal CMS reporting requirements. You'll maintain best practices for report development, report distribution and archiving that complies with federal & state statutes.
  • Act as the technical authority in a specific application.
  • Capture and prioritize system requirements / features.
  • Create CRs for new reports. In addition you'll create reports to meet user requirements using Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, and also write and maintain database stored procedures.
  • Document and implement best practices, lessons learned, release notes, and DDI documents.
  • Maintain SharePoint sites.
  • Provide peer review and unit test reports.
  • Successfully complete training courses set forth by the Analytics team manager.
